Hi Reader,
Can you believe how quickly August slipped away? With less than 4 months left until 2025, time is flying by!
I just wrapped up my Q4 planning and I’m ready to finish the year strong.
While planning for Q4, I realized time is one of our biggest obstacles to productivity. That’s when I remembered Parkinson’s Law.
The hidden danger of too much time
You’ve probably heard of Parkinson’s Law: the principle stating work expands to fill the time you give it.
Let’s say you have two hours to finish a task, you’ll likely get it done in two hours.
But if you give yourself a week for the same task, you’ll take the whole week.
Why?
With more time, we tend to overthink, drag things out, and complicate the process. It leads to wasted time and procrastination.
Master your time with smart constraints
My go-to strategy for beating Parkinson’s Law?
Constraints.
I wrote about it in my Harvard Business Review article on Timeboxing.
Constraints force you to focus, prioritize, and get things done efficiently.
